Three worries stood in the way. A dark color might look heavy beside the house next door. It might read one way by canyon light and another under the lights after dark. And if it was wrong, the fix would be the whole job, in front of every neighbor on the street.
On a street this close, each of those worries is reasonable. What they needed was a way to see the bold version on their own house before committing to it.
